The procedures to design a 3D program to meet your imaging requirements include a review of existing acquisition and processing parameters such as bin size, recording patch size, charge size, and processing mutes. These parameters are assessed against your program objectives.

Source and receiver intervals are selected as well as line intervals and minimum and maximum offsets. Liaison between you, your seismic data processor, and OutSource may be necessary to optimize your program design to overcome data quality issues.

A successful seismic program design is usually a compromise between imaging objectives, cost guidelines, and timing constraints.

The shot record above was obtained from the program design shown on the left. The program was designed with identical source and receiver geometry with a long offset recording patch. The program objective was to image a target amongst multiples. Providing the best data possible for the seismic processor was crucial to this program’s success.
